Título: Forking toward the Commons: From OpenOffice.org to LibreOffice and The Document Foundation
I will discuss why the fork of LibreOffice is significant for
understanding how free software communities can be sustained. I will
explore the conditions that made the fork possible and evaluate the
implications of the fork for the development of the digital commons.
Data for the paper include qualitative interviews with the founders of
The Document Foundation and members of its Board of Directors, as well
as other sources.
